Human Rights

Overview

#EndAbductionsKE is a Kenyan grassroots movement that emerged in response to the increasing incidents of abductions, particularly noted during and after 25th June 2024 Finance bill protests. The movement aims to bring attention to these human rights violations, demand accountability from the authorities, and ensure that those abducted are safely returned to their families and communities. It has gained traction through social media, where individuals share stories, report incidents, and rally for change.

Objectives

  • Raise Awareness: Inform the public about the extent of abductions in Kenya, highlighting the need for vigilance and community action.
  • Advocate for Justice: Push for legal action against those involved in abductions, seeking justice for victims and their families.
  • Promote Transparency: Demand transparency from government agencies regarding their operations, especially those related to security and law enforcement.
  • Support Victims: Provide or advocate for support mechanisms for victims of abductions, including legal aid, psychological support, and safe return to society.
  • Legislative Reform: Work towards legal reforms that prevent such practices by strengthening laws against illegal detentions and disappearances.
